Stryker’s baseball team erased a 2-0 deficit to come back and beat the North Central Eagles 4-2 in Buckeye Border Conference action in Stryker on Friday.
Stryker’s Kristian Grapengeter had two singles and two stolen bases on the evening, while teammate Gavin Campbell had one single, two runs batted in and a stolen base.
Stryker’s Izayah Ferguson and Daniel Fether combined to only give up three hits to North Central on Friday, with one of them being a home run to Layne Cogswell.
NC’s Colton Schmunk earned the loss as pitcher. He went six innings, gave up eight hits, four runs, had six strikeouts and walked two batters.
Stryker (8-7, 5-3 BBC) and North Central (8-7, 7-3) see each other again in the opening round of Division IV sectional play Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Stryker.
Wauseon 8, Edon 7
The Edon Bombers entered the bottom of the seventh inning with a 7-5 lead but gave up three runs and lost in walk-off fashion on the road against the Wauseon Indians on Friday.
Joey Shema was 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs, Trent Armstrong was 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Justus Chapa was 2-for-4 with two runs scored to lead Wauseon (7-8) at the plate.
Edon (7-8) was led by Riley Manahan, who had a single, a triple and two runs scored.
Archbold 9, Montpelier 8
Archbold’s Brandon Miller hit a single during the bottom of the seventh to drive home Jeron Williams and break an 8-8 tie to give Archbold the victory in walk-off fashion in Archbold on Friday.
Montpelier (9-8) entered the top of the seventh trailing 8-6 but scored the necessary two runs to extend the game, only to see Archbold (18-3) win it during the bottom of the ninth.
Five different Montpelier players — Collin Crisenberry, Bryer Bentley, Brock O’Neal, Tyler Rupp and Blake Altaffer had multi-hit games. But it wasn’t enough.
Fairview 7, Delta 5
The Fairview Apaches picked up a narrow two-run victory on the road against the Delta Panthers on Friday.
Fairview (8-10) racked up 11 hits in the game, led by two-hit performances from Hunter Fritch, Austin Bostater, Bryan Lucas and Cade Polter.
Delta (8-11) was led by Tristin Saegar, who finished 2-for-3 with one RBI on Friday.
Fairview’s Caleb Frank earned the victory on the mound. He went all seven innings, gave up eight hits, five runs, walked three and struck out six.
